Our NGOs don't just need student interns. Professionals or practically anyone with life experience and desire can somehow help those who need it.
Argentina is world-known for its tango, soccer, passionate people and landscapes, but beyond these images that cross borders and captivate millions, there is another reality, another Argentina that desperately needs your help. You can be a part of uplifting this hidden Argentina while experiencing the local culture and improving your Spanish.
OK, but why pay to volunteer you may ask?
Although anyone can independently travel, learn alone how to get around, organize lodging, meals and health insurance, and find an NGO to assist, the amount of time required to do so, particularly from overseas, without language fluency, and for a short-term commitment is immense. Additionally, the risks of personal danger or picking an unsuitable NGO or project are quite high. By utilizing our assistance you are guaranteed a fulfilling placement with a legitimate organization and your comfort and safety are assured. Since Fundacion AFOS is an NGO itself your fee is destined only to fund charitable operations and is split between us for your room and board, support and operations and the NGO you volunteer with.
At least 20% and often much more of fees go to the volunteer's NGO placement and are a major source of funding for NGOs here in the absence of local donors or government subsidies
Ultimately, unless you have a personal connection or experience here, you will likely spend far less, have far greater impact, and be far more satisfied by utilizing our assistance.
Here is a recent article from a university professor describing the issues involved in more depth.
